Idiopathic (Immune) Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

This document is based on a ppt of an Idiopathic (Immune) Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) Immune disease which is termed “idiopathic,” used in the former name of the condition, which means “of unknown cause.” In the past, it was used because the cause of ITP wasn’t well understood. However, it’s now clear that the immune system plays an important role in the development of ITP, thus its newer name, immune thrombocytopenia.
It is autoimmune-acquired bleeding characterized by increased platelet destruction.
