Being a doctor today gives one a very important status in society. Being healthy, and people who help others in staying this way are seen as big priority in life. People live in healthy environments, watch their diet, wash themselves under clean water etc. But this nowadays common idea to stay healthy and take responsibility for one’s health wasn’t always so self evident. Modern medicine, as we still know it today, didn’t appear till the late 19th century. And before the mid-18th century there wasn’t a change in medicine since the medieval period. How did these changes in the science of medicine emerge? What are the new approaches in medicine? What epistemology was seen as true in the world of medicine? These questions will all be answered, starting with the main one, How did we go from traditional medicine to modern medicine?
